The drug most commonly used for hair loss is Finasteride but trials have shown that Saw Palmetto is as effective as Finasteride against hair loss (and, incidentally, against benign prostatic hypertrophy in men (enlargement of the prostate). Importantly, these trials also showed that 9% of the men who received Finasteride experienced a decline in sexual function, while 6% of the men in the Saw Palmetto group felt their sexual function had improved.

More about the Causes of Hair Loss
Male & female pattern baldness are caused by an overproduction of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is found within the hair follicle and slows down or shuts off hair production. An enzyme produced in the prostate, adrenal glands, and scalp, called 5-alpha-reductase, metabolises the male hormone testosterone into DHT. Saw Palmetto extract acts as a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT in the hair follicles, resulting in reduced hair loss. In this way, Saw Palmetto and, to a lesser extent, Zinc combined with Vitamin B6 can reverse the damage caused by DHT and promote the growth of new hair, making hair healthier, stronger and thicker.
Dosage: Take 1 capsule in the morning with or after food and 1 capsule in the afternoon/evening with or after food.
Saw Palmetto may increase the risk of bleeding and should not be used by haemophiliacs.
