Liquorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a long-established remedy around the world for its anti-inflammatory and demulcent (has a soothing and coating action) actions, being widely used to improve the health of respiratory and digestive tracts. More recent investigation shows it also to be ideal for women during menopause. Liquorice has recently been recommended as a treatment for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome due to low levels of adrenal hormones. Glycyrrhizin may help alleviate fatigue by mimicking the effects of the natural hormones.

Should not be used during pregnancy, or in cases of hypertension or kidney diseases.
